 Mission Statement

Be good enough to be forgotten in order to glorify the Lord (Ps 69:30).

 Purpose and Goals

  • Be a true worshiper in spirit and truth (JN 4:24). This does not just portray to a Sunday morning worship service, but should be represented in how we daily live our lives.
  • Be forgotten. We are not the center of attention. It is our job to help others focus not on us, but rather on God. We are no different than anyone else who is worshiping in the congregation, except that we are helping them to participate through our leadership.
  • Be actively seeking. Seek the Lord and be attentive to how His Spirit is moving (Mt 6:33).

 Leadership and Ministry

  • Be Christ centered. Every member needs to have an active relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Be available (Eph 5:16). As a member of a worship team you are looked upon by others as a leader. It is your job to take this responsibility seriously. You are not simply playing music on a Sunday morning, but you are accepting your role in ministry. The focus of the ministry is primarily the people. It is your job to be available to talk, pray, or encourage fellow members of the body.

 Musical Ability

  • Be gifted in music (1 Cor 12:4). Everyone in the body of Christ has been given gifts through the Holy Spirit. It is vital that we use the gifts God has given us, and not try to serve in areas where we are not gifted. It is very important that if you are on a worship team, you are gifted with the appropriate ability.

 Practice

  • Be well rehearsed. Each member of a worship team will be required to attend a scheduled rehearsal that will take place at an agreed time apart from Sunday morning. This is to ensure a smooth service on Sunday giving the worship team the confidence they need in order to relax and truly worship. Each member will also be required to come early on Sunday mornings for a final run through of the songs already practiced.
  • Be an inspiration (JN 13:34). When we meet together for practice, it is not only to the benefit of the music but also to be an encouragement to one another in our relationships with the Lord. This is a safe time to be able to share and pray with one another (Prov. 27:17).

 Prayer

  • Be prayerful (1 Thess 5:16-18). Without the power of the Holy Spirit our ministry is void. If you are a member of a worship team, you should actively pray for our church and the music ministry. We meet on a Sunday morning to pray together, but I ask that this not be the only time you pray for the Sunday morning service. Arrive on a Sunday already having prayed on your own.
